GCSE exam technique
How to effectively do past papers to boost your grade
Grade 8/9 Plan
Many students do past papers and practice questions, but what sets top students apart is their study technique. It's not how many questions you do but how you do them.
This simple yet effective plan is what helped me get 9/8/7 in all my GCSEs.
I call it the A.C.E technique:
A - Apply and answer
After Skimming through the content , answer practice questions.
If you are using a past paper make sure to do it in timed conditions
C - Corrections
Mark your questions using the mark scheme but be very strict with yourself
Only mark the questions you get wrong
On a separate paper, write out the correct mark scheme for that Question and the topic of that question
E - Evaluate
Compare your answer to the mark scheme , what were you missing and why did you get it wrong
Compile a file or a folder that has all the incorrect questions , study this before the exam
If a topic frequently comes up , revise this more in depth in order to target it as a weak topic
That's it! So simple yet so effective. Use this technique next time to A.C.E your exam!
